White Smoke by Tiffany D. Jackson

White Smoke by Tiffany D. Jackson

Genre: Young Adult Fiction

Believing her new home to actually be alive, especially when her brother almost dies, Marigold and her new blended family won't be safe until she brings the truth to light once and for all.

I couldn't put this one down - I was so transfixed by Marigold, the eerie things happening around the house, and all of the spooky lore surrounding her new home of Cedarville. The end was such a surprise I definitely did not see coming. The only fault is that there was no epilogue! I need to know what happened next! I'm really hoping for a sequel that will answer all of my questions...

Queen of the Tiles by Hanna Alkaf

Queen of the Tiles by Hanna Alkaf Genre: Young Adult Fiction Fifteen-year-old Najwa Bakri is forced to investigate the mysterious death of her best friend and Scrabble Queen, Trina, a year after the fact when her Instagram comes back to life with cryptic posts and messages.  I never thought a Scrabble tournament could be so eventful... It gets a little ridiculous at the end but I was so engaged throughout that I didn't mind. Definitely a solid read with a sprinkle of mystery throughout!  - Emily

She Gets the Girl by Rachael Lippincott

She Gets the Girl by Rachael Lippincott Genre: Young Adult Romance Your classic enemies to lovers trope that I will *never* get sick of. This dual-perspective novel follows Molly who has been crushing on the same girl for the last four years and Alex who has just had a rough breakup. Alex devises a plan to help Molly in hopes that she can prove that she's a good person to her ex so they can get back together. But once everything goes according to plan, they each start realizing that maybe this wasn't what they truly wanted...  I listened to this one as an audiobook and it gave me all the feel-goods I needed to get me through the week!

In Five Years by Rebecca Serle

In Five Years by Rebecca Serle Genre: Adult Fiction Where do you see yourself in five years?  A question I ask myself all the time. But what if you woke up five years in the future? After spending an entire hour 5 years in the future, main character Dannie Kohan wakes up again back in the present. She cannot shake what happened even though it was presumably just a dream. Dannie, being ever the realist, is determined to ignore the experience and move on with her life...until 4.5 years later she meets the man she was with in the long-ago vision.  This book was a whirlwind of emotion, friendship, and loss. The ending hit me right in the feels and I was a crying mess for the last 10 pages or so. The whole time I was reading it, I was trying to predict the ending but I was off by a lot. If you're looking for a quick read and an emotional rollercoaster - this one's for you!  - Emily
